WordPress still ruling the CMS War…as Joomla loses ground!
Recent Content Management System(CMS) usage statistics by builtwith.com, show that WordPress the most popular Content Management System still reigns supreme from a survey last carried out on the 1st of February 2013.
A Content Management System according to Wikipedia is a computer program that allows publishing, editing and modifying content as well as maintenance from a central interface, some of the most popular CMS’s used in Zimbabwe are WordPress, Drupal and Joomla. Joomla continues to lose it’s market share whilst Drupal is gaining.
Builtwith.com carried out a survey for CMS distribution on the top 1 Million, 100,000 and top 10,000 websites and they also carried out a survey on Content Management System Migration.
Below is a diagram detailing the stats
One interesting trend is that WordPress dominates all the categories including the top 10,000 websites on the web but joomla is proving to be very unpopular in this category with an overall position 9, however Drupal seems to gain more ground in this category with an overall position of second.
Another fascinating trend is CMS Migration statistics below, which outline the number of websites that have stopped using one system for another, the highest percentage of migration is from Joomla to WordPress which accounts for 26,51% of the total migration, some staunch Joomla fans from Zimbabwe will not be pleased with this stat.
